October 1st, 2021
Well, this has been an interesting week for me. I woke Tuesday with a bit of a runny nose, so I decided to stay home and get tested to be safe. Later that day, I was preparing supper when I managed to cut a pretty big chunk of my pinky fingertip off. I unfortunately spent Tuesday evening in the ER. The good news is that my finger is all bandaged up, my test came back negative, and I’m feeling much better!
This week was Truth and Reconciliation week before we had the day off in recognition. I appreciated the chance to discuss residential schools with the students, help them understand the impact they had on the lives of those who went there, and how this understanding can help us to help others.
A reminder that picture day is October 6th.
Here’s what’s coming up for next week, since I was away for a couple of days, there is a bit of catching up from last week that we’ll be doing.
Math: We will be wrapping up ordering numbers and head into addition up to 10 000.
French: We will be putting a lot more effort into our interview project, with lots of practice and hopefully filming by the end of the week. We will also be doing a couple pages out of Zigzag and practicing for Dictée #2 (which isn’t until Oct. 21).
English: We will be picking a story to publish this week and starting on our published copies.
Science: We will be growing some mold and looking deeper into where human produced garbage comes from.
Social Studies: We’ll be wrapping up our research into some facts about Alberta, and then moving on to some more Geography. We’ll also take some time to talk about the municipal election and hear what some of the candidates have to say.
