Well that was a bit of a rollercoaster ride since the Christmas break. I took advantage of the week without the students here to get some organizing, cleaning and planning done. I was all ready for them to come back, had a great day on that Monday, then unfortunately started to not feel well that night. After another week and a half, I’m feeling better and I’m back and excited to be in the classroom again.
Here’s a look at what we’ll be getting up to next week:
Math: We are using variables to solve equations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. After the students have completed their practice questions, we will be doing a secret number project that will put everything they’ve learned together.
French: We will be continuing with our novel study, doing some work in our Zigzag books about noun groups, and practicing for the next dictée.
English: We will be doing some reading of newspaper articles for comprehension, practicing for the spelling test coming this Thursday, and learning about how to write about our opinions.
Science: We’ll be measuring our shadows throughout the day and looking at the reflective characteristics of classroom objects.
Social Studies: We’re going to be examining the rocky mountain region of Alberta.
