A "shocking" week
We had a very interesting week this week. Yesterday in Science, we were attempted to find proof that batteries produce electricity. The results weren't as convincing as I'd have liked them to be but the students got the idea. We are excited to continue our work with electricity and look at circuits next week. We also just finished a presentation from one of the Tornado Hunters. It was very informative but also very entertaining.
We have continued our story-writing unit in English Language Arts. The students started another story, but this time we are going a bit slower with each step. Throughout the next week we will finish our rough drafts and learn about revising our stories.
In French, we've taken some time to look at adjectives, and the very fun aspect of French that requires that adjectives match the gender and number of what they describe. We looked into strategies to help us better understand informative texts. We will be going into more detail next week with both reading strategies and adjectives.
We've continued to split our Social Studies time between the election and our review of Canadian geography. I asked the students what they would do if they were prime minister and got a wide variety of responses ranging from lowering taxes and putting a pool in the school.
I continue to be impressed by the great attitudes that I see from these students. Every one of them is here to learn and improve, and that makes my job even better. Thank you for your support. I'll be at Word on the Street this weekend at the public library, it's a great event and if you haven't gone I urge you to go.
