Hard to believe how quickly the end of this school year is approaching us. Next week is our last full week together and that bittersweet hello to summer and goodbye to students awaits. I hope everyone is hanging in there as we also approach the end of many of the Covid restrictions.

Here’s a look at what we’re up to:

Maths: We’re just about finished our division unit. We will continue to look at problem solving with multiplication and division on Monday and Tuesday, and we’ll have a little quiz Wednesday to see where everyone is at and go back to some things if needed. If all goes well, we’ll head back to 3-digit addition and subtraction to start our year-end review.

French: We’ll have our last dictée on Wednesday. We will continue our daily reading and be doing work in Alphabetik as well. On Monday we’ll review making sure adjectives agree with the subject in certain sentences. On Tuesday and Wednesday we’ll be doing a writing and speaking activity where the students write and present an introduction to a circus act. This activity will help us build a rich vocabulary of interesting adjectives and verbs that would excite an audience. On Thursday we’ll start a review of the different sounds, grammar principles and vocabulary that we’ve been working on this year.

English: We are continuing with writer’s workshop this Monday and Wednesday, continuing to write new stories, and revise and edit old ones and prepare to publish a story of our choice. We will be practicing for our final spelling test this coming Friday, and finishing Fantastic Mr. Fox this week. Once we’re finished, we’ll be doing some English grammar activities, such as parts of speech, punctuation, and figures of speech as well.

Sciences: We will be wrapping up rocks and minerals on Monday with a review of the different kinds of rocks. On Tuesday we’ll move quickly into animal life cycles with a classifying animals activity.

Etudes Sociales: We will be starting to look at Ukraine, with some general information such as language, location, capital, and the environment.
