PD Season
It seems that we are in PD season, with 2 weeks in a row shortened due to holidays and/or professional development days. Over the next couple days I will be learning about indigenous peoples here in southern Alberta and what my role is as an educator. I will also be collaborating with other teachers in the school to work on some projects we have started. I hope the children enjoy the break, and come back on Monday ready to learn!
This week we made switches in science, and were able to explain how a switch operates in an electrical circuit. Next week we are going to start looking into magnets.
We have finally finished with the election in Social Studies. The students enjoyed the chance to cast a ballot in the student vote, and have come away with an appreciation for the democratic system we have here in Canada.
In math we have moved on to Multiplication. Each day the students spend 10-20 minutes working on memorizing their timestables to 10x10. We are making progress but will keep working at it. We've started 2 and 3 digit multiplication and will be working on that next week as well./
In French Language arts we have started writing information books. The students find subjects that they are experts in, and plan and write a book to teach others about that subject. We will be working on this for the next couple weeks as well.
In English Language arts, we have been continuing to work on grammar and reading comprehension, with the hope to start a book club in the coming weeks.
Have a wonderful weekend!
