Snow thanks.

I'll be dreaming of Belize this weekend

Another week down. I'm hoping I don't have to do too much shoveling this weekend, but it sounds like we should be in for a whole lot of snow. A reminder to make sure your children come dressed for the weather, as indoor recesses are only for when it's below -20. If there's a foot of snow, they'll still be heading out.

We had our Terry Fox run this week which was a great success as we beat our goal of raising $1250 as a school. Orange Shirt Day is on Monday, so please send them with an orange shirt if you have one. We have Orange Shirt Day to recognize indigenous peoples who were sent to residential schools and to bring awareness to the ongoing negative effects of these schools.

We were able to do some more work with electricity this week, learning about how to make light bulbs light up and making complete circuits. We are going to be learning how to plan out and draw circuits next week.

We've continued with estimating large sums this week, and will be moving on to estimating large differences next week in math.

In Social Studies, we've been looking at the federal election. We learning about different ways to make decisions, and what the different governments in Canada do. Next week we are going to start learning how to differentiate fact and opinion, and how to discern what news is factual and what news is misleading.

We are continuing with writing, reading and grammar in Language Arts. We started to revise our English stories. The students seemed skeptical of the revision process at first but seem to have learned the importance of going back and making changes.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
