As we enjoy the lovely weather, I’m reminded of around this time last year when we experienced quite the snowstorm. It was the first time in my career as both a student and a teacher that I’ve had a snow day. I’ll be honest and say that I’d much rather be in school with nice weather than at home with a foot or two of snow.

We had a good week, with some science experiments and some learning about Orange shirt day. Here’s what’s coming up next week:

Français: We are going to be looking at the é sound in French in our Alphabetique books. We will be doing dictée #2 on Wednesday and will be taking some time to practice on Monday and Tuesday. We are going to be starting some more writing projects about ourselves as well.

I will be starting my reading evaluations this week. In the coming weeks I’m going to sign the class up for Reading A-Z, which gives the children access to books at home in French and English. This seems like a good choice for home reading given our current situation. The grade 2 teachers last year said there was good participation and I hope that continues.

Maths: We will be wrapping up increasing patterns and trying to get through decreasing patterns.

Social Studies: We are going to be talking about Canada and some of the places we’ve visited.

Science: We will be doing a fun project about the ear on Monday and talking about tone and volume on Tuesday.

English: We are going to be finishing our “There’s a Wocket in my Pocket” books and start on the My Terrific Teacher projectI’ve sent home the words for Spelling test #1. We will be having the test on Friday.

Picture of the Day: My little guy having a yawn, after what I’m sure was a day filled with napping, with the occasional kick.
