And suddenly, Christmas vacation is near. The students have been working hard these last few weeks and I'm proud of their resilience as we approach our break.
There are a few important things coming up this week:
Monday is pajama day, Tuesday is Tinsel Tuesday (dress up in something sparkly), Wednesday is Red and Green Day, Thursday is Hat day (try to keep it Christmas themed), and Friday is Christmas sweater day.
On Friday, we will also be watching the Grinch, or the Grinch Who Stole Christmas during class that day.
Thursday is Mme. Peddle's last day with us. The students have really enjoyed having her in our class and we wish her the best of luck as she continues with her teacher training. She is going to be an amazing teacher.
Here's what we've been up to as we approach the break:
Math: The students have been working hard on a data analysis poster using information they collected in class. They will be wrapping it up soon and we'll be doing some Christmas adding and subtraction before the break.
English: We've been looking at informational articles and finding information, we'll be doing one more next week and also doing some Christmas themed writing activities.
French: We've started reading "Les dragonniers: à l'écoute de la nature" in class. It's an interesting fiction/non-fiction book that teaches us about the environment.
Science: We had a virtual Scientists in Schools visit to talk about light and optics this week. We will be doing some shadow activities next week.
Social Studies: We've been talking about Alberta's origins and will be looking at our fossil history (including touching real fossils!).
