February 7th 2022
It's a blustery but warm day today. Somehow, every winter I forget that our winters are a mix of either warm and windy days or -30 degrees, we rarely have an inbetween.
Here's what we're up to this week:
Math: We are working on a final project for our patterns and equations unit. The students are making secret messages that have to be decoded by solving different equations with letters as the unknown part of the equation. I hope to have the project wrapped up by Wednesday and we will start the new unit on Multiplication and Division.
French: We are taking time to practice our dictée, continuing to read Les dragonniers and other reading activities in our Zigzag books. We are also going to be starting a penpal program with grade 4 students at the school I used to teach at in Hinton. We will be writing an introductory paragraph later this week.
English: We will be preparing for this week's spelling test, doing some journal writing and some reading work by reading more informational articles.
Science: We are wrapping up our light unit with a review of what we've learned. Our next unit is simple machines.
Social Studies: We've been looking at the different regions of Alberta and learning about them. This week we will look at the Parkland and Foothills regions.
