My apologies for the missed blog entry. That week of no classes mixed things up a little, I’ll keep them more regular from here on. My finger is healing nicely, and now I get to chase down a little walking baby at home as Theo took his first steps this week and hasn’t stopped since.

A quick reminder that all students should have a pair of indoor shoes and a pair of outdoor shoes. As the weather gets colder and the snow falls soon, this goes a long way in helping our custodial team keep the floors clean.

We’ve managed to collect a large u-haul box full of donations for the winter clothing drive this week. We’re off to a great start and I’d like to thank the families who’ve donated so far. The students are really excited to see how much we’ve been collecting. Here’s the list of what we’re collecting:

New and used for adults and children(but in good condition):

Tuques

Gloves

Scarves

Winter coats

Snow pants

New socks

Blankets

Sheets

Towels

We will be having our Halloween party this coming Friday, October 29th. Students may come in their costumes that day. My hope is to take some time that day to play a couple games in class and watch a movie. I’ll email later this week with the title of the movie. The covid restrictions regarding snacks are still that anything brought to share must be store-bought and individually packaged (and nut-free, and gluten free if possible).  With this in mind, I feel it’s easiest if children brought their own snacks to eat themselves rather than snacks for the whole class. That being said, you are welcome to send something that follows the covid guidelines to share with the class as well.

Here’s a look at what we’re up to in the next week:

Maths: We will be continuing 4-digit addition and subtraction, and soon moving on to our culminating project about number.

French: We will be filming interviews this week, and starting to look at our new set of dictée words. I am continuing with reading evaluations this week. We will also being doing a little journaling using MyBlueprint, and talking about masculine and feminine nouns and adjectives in our Zigzag notebook.

English: We’ll be finishing our published stories, practicing for our upcoming spelling test (Oct 28th), and working on some more grammar, talking about compound words. I’ve added the spelling words to the Dictée and Spelling words page on this website.

Science: We’ll be digging through some garbage this week, doing an inventory, deciding what could be recycled, composted, or sent to the landfill.

Social Studies: Students will be working on a project about a provincial park in Alberta.

Gym: We are doing soccer skills this week.
