Sept. 18, 2021
A big thank you to all the parents and students who brought in money this week for our Toonies for Terry fundraiser. We had an enjoyable walk on Friday in some cool weather. I seem to recall most of the recent Terry Fox walks as being quite hot, so this was a nice relief.
Here’s what we’re up to during the upcoming week:
Math: We’re continuing our work with numbers up to 9999. We’ll be working on representing them in a variety of ways and ordering and comparing them as well.
French: We’ve started work on our interview project this last week, and will continue this coming week. We will be brainstorming what kinds of questions we can ask, and then beginning to work in groups to practice our questions and our answers. We’ll also be doing some grammar work by looking at determiners, and start to practice our dictées. I have set a tentative date of Sept. 29 as the day of our first dictée.
English: We’ll be spending some time revising our stories this week and finding ways to add detail and expression. We’ll also have a lesson on reading strategies as well.
Science: This week we are learning about decomposers and how worms can be used to compost organic waste.
Social Studies: We’ll be using the laptops again to do some research about Alberta.
